Second Data Security Sub-Forum of the 2023 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) Held

On the morning of September 8, the second Data Security Sub-forum of the 2023 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) was held in Beijing. Officials from the United Nations science and technology department, former political figures from Russia, Japan, Israel, and other countries, as well as cybersecurity experts, envoys from Belarus, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the UAE, and other countries to China, along with representatives from the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, universities, research institutions, and tech enterprises, totaling about 50 people attended the event. The sub-forum was hosted by the China Association for Friendship. Chen Zhimin, President of the China Association for Friendship, and responsible officials from the Cyber-security Protection Department and International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Public Security delivered opening remarks.

This sub-forum was part of a series of sub-forums held under the framework of the 2023 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang), aiming to promote the implementation of the Global Data Security Initiative. It engaged in dialogues on international governance and cooperation on data security in the new era, focused on prominent data security issues, shared advanced experiences in data governance, exchanged outstanding achievements in data protection, promoted international cooperation on data security, and built the greatest possible consensus on cooperation. The aim was to implement the Global Initiative on Data Security and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind in cyberspace that is peaceful, secure, open, cooperative, and orderly. At the meeting, domestic and international experts and scholars jointly discussed data security and artificial intelligence security, data security and the Peaceful China construction, data property rights, and how data security can help establish production relations commensurate with digital productivity. They offered suggestions for strengthening international cooperation in the field of data security, and the forum passed the outcome document Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) Consensus on Data Security.

The forum issued an initiative to establish a data security liaison mechanism under the framework of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) and to establish a cooperation mechanism with the Seminar on Global Public Security Index. The China Association for Friendship is willing to work with friends from all over the world to promote international cooperation on data security, maximize consensus on cooperation, and advance the implementation of the Global Data Security Initiative, jointly building the cyberspace community with a shared future advocated by President Xi Jinping.
