The Convening of Metropolitan Public Security Sub-forum of the 2024 Conference of Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang)

The Metropolitan Public Security Sub-forum of the 2024 Conference of Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) was held in Lianyungang City of Jiangsu Province on September 8. Over 70 participants from 16 countries and regions attended the event, including law enforcement officials, police liaison officers, and renowned experts and scholars. The sub-forum was hosted by China Association for Friendship and organized by Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Public Security.


The sub-forum, themed “Enhancing Metropolitan Police Cooperation and Improving City Public Security Capacity Building”, pooled wisdom from attendees over topics such as Evolution and Trend in Global Metropolitan Public Security, New Challenges in Global Metropolitan Policing arising from Public Security Evolution, Policing Exploration and Practice in Various Metropolitan Cities, Pooling Synergy on the New Pattern of Global Metropolitan Public Security, etc. The sub-forum released the Metropolitan Public Security Sub-forum Initiative, which was warmly received by participants at home and abroad.


All participants agreed that to effectively address the challenges faced by metropolitan public security, enhancing cooperation is an inevitable choice. All parties adhered to the core values of “cooperation, innovation, rule of law, and win-win outcomes”, engaged in extensive and in-depth exchanges over heatedly-discussed policing topics in different times, advocated mutual learning and experiences sharing, built consensus on cooperation, deepened pragmatic collaboration, and shared cutting-edge policing concepts, practical experiences, and research outcomes. All participants agreed to strengthen the innovation and reform of metropolitan public security protection and its governance effectiveness, and promote the modernization of metropolitan public security governance, with a view to better safeguarding the orderly operation of cities, protecting the lives, health, and property of urban residents, and contributing to the establishment of a comprehensive and multi-dimensional metropolitan public security network.
