On September 10th, the Panel on International Security Situation was held as part of the 2024 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province. Over 100 participants, including Chinese experts from institutions such as the China Institute of International Studies, Nanjing University, and Taihe Institute as well as government officials, experts, and scholars from approximately 20 countries including the United States, Britain, South Korea, Pakistan, and Kazakhstan, and international organizations, took part in the Panel. The Panel was hosted by China Association for Friendship and moderated by Mr. Zafar Uddin Mahmood, former Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan and President Understanding China Forum.
Under the theme "The International Security Situation in a Phase of Fluidity and Transformation: More Challenges, Common Responsibilities", participants engaged in candid and in-depth discussions on new characteristics and trends of the current international security situation, rising and more diverse risks in public security and enhancing cooperation on public security to promote global security governance. They shared experiences and practices.
Participants unanimously agreed that various traditional and non-traditional security threats continue to emerge in today's world. Changes of the world, era, and history are unfolding in unprecedented ways, presenting severe challenges to peace and development. The 2024 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) will play a positive leading role in deepening cooperation and exchanges in the field of public security and advancing global public security governance. All parties are willing to join efforts to implement a global governance concept of extensive consultations, joint contribution, and shared benefits, continuously strengthen international cooperation in the field of public security, and build a more peaceful and beautiful world.
